What to Wear for an Engagement Session

After a contract is signed and the engagement session is on the calendar.... the first question I always receive from my clients is, "What should I wear?". Here's the reality, I have a hard enough time dressing myself in the morning, let alone giving someone advice on what to wear for a professional photos... mainly because I don't know what their personal style is and I don't have access to their closet to see what my options are. However, I do know what has worked with previous clients and I can share some of my favorite engagement photos of 2015 to hopefully inspire future clients and give a little better direction on what to wear for their upcoming engagement session!

  • DRESS IT UP | Remember when you use to asked your mom if you could play dress up (this might be one just for the guys)? Think about how often you get the opportunity to dress up and get professional photos done? More importantly how often do you get to dress up with your love to take photos? I usually always recommend two outfits for an engagement session; think Casual Chic, and Creative Cocktail.

RENT THE RUNWAY | Not liking any of your outfit options for the engagement session? Rent it! I've recommend this as an option to several clients looking for a little less everyday and a little more glam!

DON'T FORGET TO ACCESSORIZE | I love photographing the details on the wedding day, but even more so during an engagement session... especially if it pops!

GUYS CAN BE DIVAS TOO | This is a time for the guys to get 'glammed' up too. Finding their best '007' look is always a good a idea, and obviously leads to better photos too :)

BE COMFORTABLE | I always say this when photographing couples, "If you feel uncomfortable, then I can almost guarantee you will look uncomfortable in the photos". It can make or break a photo if you're not comfortable in what you're wearing. At the end of the day, having my clients FEEL good is waaaay more important then thinking you look good.
